Tax Attorney Roni Deutch Sends Open Letter Seeking to Simplify Installment Agreement Process
North Highlands, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- Nationally recognized tax attorney Roni Deutch has written and released an open letter seeking to simplify the Installment Agreement process for both taxpayers and the Internal Revenue Service.
In an open letter to Henry M. Paulson, Jr, Secretary of the Treasury, tax attorney Roni Deutch is seeking a simple revision to the Internal Revenue Service's Installment Agreement plan, which she claims would make it easier for both the IRS and taxpayers intending to pay their taxes in full. Currently, the IRS will accept an Installment Agreement for a monthly amount that will pay-off all IRS back taxes within five years without having to provide a full financial disclosure for taxpayers who's back tax liability is less than $25,000.00 provided that all required returns have been filed. In her letter, Ms. Deutch proposes that the $25,000.00 limit for Installment Agreements be lifted to $75,000.00, thus making it easier for thousands of people to fully pay their back taxes through more manageable monthly payments.
An Installment Agreement is a repayment agreement a taxpayer can make with the IRS to pay back taxes through more affordable monthly payments. Under current laws, if a taxpayer owes more then $25,000.00 to the IRS he or she must submit a complete financial disclosure including answers to personal questions regarding household income, expenses, and assets. This includes information regarding a taxpayer's employer(s), bank accounts, investment accounts, credit cards, mortgages, and vehicle loans, among others. The taxpayer may also have to divulge highly personal information such as child support obligations and medical conditions and expenses. The complete financial disclosure also requires the taxpayer to collect months of financial documentation to support his or her claims. "As you can imagine, inexperienced or uneducated taxpayers performing this task without the assistance of a tax professional will undoubtedly feel overwhelmed and stressed," notes Ms. Deutch.
Ms. Deutch and her law firm, Roni Lynn Deutch, A Professional Tax Corporation, have been helping taxpayers with IRS debt across the country for over sixteen years and has helped thousands of taxpayers resolve their tax liabilities. In April 2007, Roni Deutch and her law firm represented a group of Installment Agreement clients who owed in aggregate over $2.5 million to the IRS. By negotiating with the IRS, they were able to get these clients on installment plans averaging $434 per month.
"Making the change would make it easier for thousands of American families to fully pay their IRS debts," notes Roni Deutch. "It's easy to get a little behind on your taxes one year and find yourself owing thousands to the IRS. Making this change would make it easier for thousands of families across the country who just need a little extra time to pay their back taxes."
Ms. Deutch also forwarded her concerns to the Congressional Leadership and relevant Committee Chairs for both houses of Congress. "I think it is important to inform Congress about an unnecessary burden being levied on both American taxpayers and the IRS. Changing the law could be a win-win situation for Congress. First, it would dramatically improve the efficiency of one of their notoriously slow organizations. Second, it would provide American taxpayers the flexibility they deserve in order to pay off their IRS back taxes."

Pending Federal Law Threatens All Copyright Owners says the Hodgson Law Group

The user can later claim that a diligent search was conducted but the owner could not be found in any later action for infringement. This new legislation will apply to all copyright owners whether or not the work was previously registered with the Copyright Office. The legislation threatens the rights of artists, photographers, composers, film makers, publishers, and visual artists says the Hodgson Law Group. The Copyright Office not only endorses this legislation, but also advocates further changes that go beyond the proposed statute in reducing copyright protection. T...
