Becky Schmitz Receives Award as Top Tax Problem Solver

Billings, MT (PRWEB) June 15, 2006 -- The American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS) is pleased to announce Becky Schmitz the recipient of the coveted ASTPS Top Practitioner Spring 2006 Award.

The ASTPS Top Practitioner Award recognizes distinguished members for their exemplary professional accomplishments, dedication, and contributions to the organization and the profession.

Becky submitted her first Tax Problem Resolution offer in 1994. For the past seven years she has devoted a substantial portion of her practice to tax problem resolution as a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist. She employs a staff of four in her firm, Cent$able Accounting, Inc., "The Tax Problem Solvers." She and her staff provide the customary array of tax preparation and tax planning services for individuals and businesses, in addition to Tax Problem Resolution. The firm's website has a page - http://www.centsableaccounting.com/tax-services/ - that discusses these services in greater detail.

Becky says the biggest challenges practitioners face is being aware of constant IRS rules changes and understanding how those changes apply to them and their clients.

"Recently, a revenue officer was telling me that IRS is coming out with a 12-point system on their computers for penalty abatement," she says. "I think it helps us professionally if we already hear of the changes that are coming so we can keep up with them."

Becky says she's been fortunate to have had many mentors early in her career, but the one who stands out most in her mind is ASTPS Executive Director Larry Lawler. "Larry has always been a positive influence to me in my business," she says. "He is able to candidly see my strengths and weaknesses. He has always been sincere in helping me to recognize different areas of problems in my office and ways to improve my business." She says continual improvement is crucial.

"I find it is increasingly important to stay ahead of the competition in the knowledge area of tax problem resolution. While the situations we face in this business can be very similar, the IRS never fails to come up with different responses to the same problem."

Becky says that's why membership and participation in ASTPS are such valuable investments of both time and money.

"Learning through seminars enables me to keep the different [IRS responses at the forefront of my mind, enabling me to solve problems quicker in my own mind. ASTPS seminars allow me to increase my knowledge base in the technical area of the tax solving business." Becky enthusiastically recommends ASTPS membership to other practitioners. "The fee to belong to the organization is cost-effective. The benefit I mention most is the Certified Tax Resolution Specialist credential since it’s such a great marketing tool to use."

Becky and her children enjoy the outdoors of Big Sky Country, including annual trips to Yellowstone National Park and the nearby resort town of Red Lodge, in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains. "My kids have proclaimed April 16th as Kids Day. They think it's a national holiday." Becky’s involvement in her community reflects the preeminent place her children hold in her life. She's a member of the Riverside Little League board of directors and the league always has a team sponsored by Centsable Accounting.

Becky's goals for her business are to continue to grow revenue in the tax problem resolution area. "I want to raise people's awareness that the staff at Centsable Accounting, The Tax Problem Solvers, are the go-to experts in the area of Montana, Northern Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota."

Becky Schmitz is a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist and Owner of Centsable Accounting, a tax debt settlement and tax resolution firm in Billings, Montana.
