How to Beat the NJ Healthy Lifestyle Tax with Outdoor Fitness Training

Edison, NJ (PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Beginning on October 1st, 2006, the state of NJ will institute the NJ Healthy Lifestyle Tax, also known as the "Health Club Tax."

Governor Jon Corzine is doing what he can in an effort to rid NJ of its debt, but at the same token it might turn people away from doing what is most important, and that is taking care of their own health.

Optimal health allows one to feel better emotionally, physically, have higher energy levels, a stronger immune system and lowers risk of heart disease. Optimal health can be the difference between Mom and Dad being able to watch their kids grow up and get married, or one day being able to play with their Grandchildren.

The growing concern is what will happen to health club memberships with this new tax. Will people stop their membership and quit exercising altogether, or will they find other means of exercise?

There are many options for exercising outside of a health club. Those options can be found in a living room or the local park or playground. Not only do these options work very well, but they are also free. No membership required.

Looking at the facts below should be motivation enough for someone to get started on the road to a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Take a look at how NJ ranks in obesity in the U.S.:

• New Jersey has adult obesity rates of 21.4 percent, ranking it the 40th heaviest in the nation, according to a new report by Trust for America's Health (TFAH).
• New Jersey is one of 31 states where obesity rates rose in the past year.

The people of NJ can change these statistics for the better, all while saving themselves some money and looking and feeling better in the process.

Options for outdoor fitness programs are truly endless. All that is needed is the outdoors or a playground. This is also a perfect time for Mom and Dad to take their kids with them to "play". Play is just exercised disguised and adults should feel like they are playing when they exercise as well.

It is infinitely more beneficial to get fresh air and experience the freedom of the outdoors as opposed to being in an overcrowded gym with depressing music and overly social members who talk twice as much as they exercise.

•Step ups onto park bench (lower body: quads, hamstrings & butt)
•Trail walking or running (cardiovascular exercise)
•Dips off of the end of a park bench (shoulders & triceps)
•Hanging knee tucks or leg raises (core)

Perform these exercises in a circuit will raise one's heart rate, creating an aerobic workout at the same time as a strength workout. Get double the benefits in half the amount of time.

Those are just 6 movements / exercises that can be done outdoors. There are literally hundreds more that can be done without spending one penny on exercise equipment or a gym membership.

There's no reason to sweat the NJ Healthy Lifestyle Tax when sweating outdoors is better for the mind and body.
