Mannatech Prepared for New Law that will Require Reporting of Adverse Events with Consumption of Dietary Supplements

Coppell, Texas (Vocus) December 16, 2006 -- Global health and wellness provider Mannatech, Incorporated (NASDAQ-MTEX) is prepared to meet the requirements of a new law designed by Congress to boost consumer confidence in the safety of dietary supplements.

The bill, which will become effective within a year of being signed into law, will require supplement companies to include contact information on product labels for consumers to report adverse events during consumption. The bill received bipartisan support in both the U.S. Senate, which passed the bill unanimously, and the U.S. House of Representatives, which approved it by more than a 2-to-1 majority.

Mannatech has operated a product safety monitoring program for more than eight years. Modeled after programs used by the prescription drug industry, Mannatech's safety monitoring is designed to record any possible adverse event reported to the company in its international and domestic markets.
